Legal Cashier
Location: Leeds City Centre
Salary: 22000 - 26000
Experience required: 1-2 years in a similar role
About the Role
We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Cashier to join a friendly Accounts team at a well-established Yorkshire law firms Head Office in Leeds city centre.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with excellent attention to detail a methodical approach and a can-do attitude. Youll work quickly and efficiently to meet deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy in a supportive team environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Financial Transaction Processing:
- Processing financial transactions for the law firm
- Processing incoming and outgoing electronic payments in a timely manner
- Maintaining accurate payment records
- Checking and data entry of bills
- Ensuring office client and nominal account ledgers are updated daily
- Banking and Payment Management:
- Conducting daily banking activities
- Taking card payments from clients
- Raising cheques in accordance with fee earners or support staff instructions
- Processing payments accurately and efficiently
- Maintaining comprehensive financial records
- Cash and Expenses Management:
- Maintaining the firms petty cash system
- Processing staff expenses
- Reconciling petty cash records
- Ensuring accurate documentation
- Managing cash flow processes
- Compliance and Procedures:
- Ensuring transactions comply with SRA Accounts Rules
- Adhering to HMRC regulations and relevant legislation
- Following office and accounts procedures
- Contributing to maintaining and improving processes
- Maintaining confidentiality and data protection standards
- Client and Team Support:
- Taking internal and external telephone calls
- Dealing with enquiries in a customer-friendly manner
- Providing assistance to Accounts and Cashiers team members
- Providing cover for colleagues when required
- Supporting the smooth running of the department
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Using Microsoft Office products effectively
- Managing workload efficiently to meet deadlines
- Any other duties as required by the firm
What Were Looking For
Essential Requirements:
- Experience:
- 1-2 years experience in a similar cashier or accounts role
- Proven track record of accurate financial processing
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and methodical approach
- Ability to work accurately in accordance with team requirements
- Customer-friendly and effective manner when dealing with enquiries
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong prioritisation and time management skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good IT skills particularly Microsoft Office products
- Can-do attitude and willingness to support colleagues
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules (SRA)
- Previous experience in a legal environment
- Understanding of legal accounting procedures
- Experience with legal accounting software
- Knowledge of HMRC regulations
