The Buyer II is responsible for preparation of formal and informal bid invitations. Advises department representatives upon request based on experience and product knowledge. Aids departmental representatives in the preparation of request for purchase preparation of specifications and justifications as required.; Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
Responsibilities:
35% Responsible for preparation of formal and informal bid invitations including request for proposals and request for qualifications. Responsible for purchases of supplies and equipment.
25% Prepares specifications for competitive bids. Reviews vendor responses to competitive bidding. Awards contracts as per purchasing rules and procedures. Ensures best value or low bid is awarded appropriately
15% Provides advice and assistance on purchasing procedures to university departments. Ensures compliance with legislature System and University policies and procedures.
10% Director Procurement Services Contract Administration and HUB Coordinator with purchasing and HUB related issues including training.
5% Stays informed on the different cooperative purchasing programs and advises departments on the procedures when utilizing these programs.
5% Responsible for compliance for Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) requirements.
5% Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of related experience in procurement/purchasing.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of standard business terms and arithmetic. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to provide exacting accuracy in all phases of work.

Commensurate with experience
Salary Range
The target base annual salary range is $44000 to $55550.50 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
