Paralegal - Company & Commercial
Location: Leeds City Centre
Salary: 24000 - 30000
Experience required: 1-2 years paralegal experience in corporate law (commercial property or employment law also considered)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join a dynamic Company & Commercial team at a well-established Yorkshire law firms Leeds City Centre office.
You will assist solicitors and fee earners with a wide range of commercial matters from file opening to completion gaining valuable experience across corporate transactions commercial contracts and mergers and acquisitions work.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Corporate Transactions:
- Drafting corporate documentation including share purchase agreements
- Preparing asset purchase agreements and ancillary documents
- Supporting partners on complex and valuable transactions
- Managing data rooms for mergers and acquisitions
- Conducting due diligence reviews
- Commercial Contract Work:
- Drafting commercial contracts such as terms of business
- Reviewing and preparing franchise agreements
- Working on manufacturing agreements
- Undertaking disclosure exercises with clients
- Ensuring accuracy and compliance in all documentation
- Client Management:
- Taking initial instructions from clients
- Providing clear and appropriate advice
- Developing strong client relationships
- Identifying cross-referral opportunities
- Dealing with enquiries in a customer-friendly manner
- File and Case Management:
- Managing matters from initial instructions through to archiving
- Obtaining and preparing file documentation
- Following office and accounts procedures
- Billing files and obtaining monies due
- Liaising with the Accounts department for payments and disbursements
- Business Development:
- Developing and maintaining relationships with referral sources
- Identifying opportunities for cross-referrals
- Promoting the firms services
- Contributing to team success
- Professional Development and Support:
- Maintaining legal knowledge and skills
- Providing administrative support to fee earners solicitors and partners
- Contributing to maintaining and improving office procedures
- Contributing to a safe and healthy working environment
- Any other duties as required by the firm
What Were Looking For
Essential Requirements:
- Experience:
- 1-2 years paralegal experience in corporate law (ideally)
- Experience in commercial property or employment law also considered
- Experience of commercial contract drafting
- Experience of transactional legal matters (asset purchase agreements and/or share purchase agreements)
- Ability to deal with technical details and express solutions to complex legal problems concisely
- Ability to work accurately in accordance with team requirements
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong prioritisation and time management skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Customer-friendly and effective manner when dealing with enquiries
- IT proficient particularly Microsoft Office products
- Excellent written English to produce client-facing documents
- Good spoken English to resolve telephone enquiries
