More than 200 students each year gain healthcare experience through the Eastern Montana Area Health Education Center (AHEC) at RiverStone Health. We coordinate job shadowing experiences for high school students and college students who want first-hand healthcare experience. Shadowing experience is provided with physicians assistants registered nurses pharmacists or public health professionals. We also assist inplanning medical dental or pharmacy rotations for students in healthcare professions.
The Workshop Instructor is responsible for providing instruction to students seeking licensure as a limited permit holder of X-ray in Montana and the surrounding areas.
The Basic X-Ray Techniques Workshop is a 104-hour course consisting of self-guided study and in-person training over 8 days at the RiverStone Health Main Campus. The Workshop Instructor will teach portions of the workshop as part of a team of instructors. The 8-day workshop takes place twice per year (Spring/Fall) and instruction time totals approximately 70 hours which is divided amongst the team of instructors.
Any offer is contingent on approval by the Montana Board of Radiologic Technologists to teach the course. For approval candidates will need to submit a brief biography resume licensing information and any other information requested by the Montana Board of Radiologic Technologists.
This position is classified as Casual status which does not qualify for benefits and is paid per the terms of the employment agreement.
A. Course Instruction 85%
Provide instruction for up to 24 students on assigned days as determined using provided course materials agenda topics and resources approved by the State of Montana AART and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).
Utilize teaching methods that engage diverse students with a variety of visual auditory and kinesthetic instruction.
Answer questions from students to support their learning.
Keep the workshop on schedule so students receive all of the instruction required by licensing and accreditation authorities.
B. Administrative Tasks 10%
Prepare and adequately plan for effective classroom instruction including being familiar with all course materials.
Attend pre-planning meetings before each workshop spring and fall.
Ensure that the learning environment is maintained in a neat and orderly manner and that all equipment is cleaned and returned to its appropriate storage position following use.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of RiverStone Healths mission and goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Five years of experience as a radiologic technologist limited permit holder radiographic practitioner assistant/radiologic assistant podiatrist radiologist OR chiropractor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates comfortable providing instruction in limited physics limited mathematics and radiation safety as they apply to limited permit holders of X-Ray will be given preferential consideration.
Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or a limited permit holder in the State of Montana.
Instructors need to have a working knowledge of radiation physics image acquisition and evaluation film critique radiobiology radiation exposure radiation protection radiation safety patient care anatomy and positioning.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.

The position is responsible for managing resources including time training materials and other resources. Decisions made by the position directly affect efficiency and cost of services.
