POSITION TITLE:Child Care Aide - Part-time/Temporary -McGill
EXEMPTION STATUS:Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO:Child Care Director
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:2025-2026 school year; Part-time/Temporary
HOURLY SALARY:$12.90 per hour
Primary Purpose:
Provide childcare services as stated by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services to enable teen parents to pursue and earn a high school diploma or GED.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to work well with infants and young children
Ability to work well with teenage parents and adults
Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Minimum Experience:
One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Child Care
- Supervise infants and children at all times.
- Maintain a clean and safe learning environment.
- Demonstrate physical emotional and intellectual competencies necessary for self-control and good judgment when performing assigned responsibilities.
- Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children their families and their cultures.
- Interact with children showing affection interest respect and fostering developmentally appropriate independence.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in professional learning staff meetings and special events as assigned.
- Maintain familiarity with the districts curriculum to better serve the needs of children and parents.
Communication
- Articulate the districts mission and goals to the community and solicit community support.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard childcare equipment including changing table feeding chair crib swing
- Posture: Frequent sitting/standing kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting
- Motion: Frequent walking; frequent repetitive hand motions wrist flexion/extension
- Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance 30-55 pounds with assistance and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance
- Environment: Work in child care setting; occasional exposure to contagious diseases
- Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruption
