Purpose and Scope/General Summary: An hour north of Denver and ideally situated between Boulder Fort Collins and Greeley JBS USA is the largest company headquartered in Colorado. We are seeking a motivated and proactive attorney to join our legal team with a focus on litigation management and the talent and adaptability to handle the wide variety of complex legal matters youll find at one of the worlds largest global food companies.

In this role you will draw upon your experience to strategically and efficiently manage litigation and other disputes from inception to completion. You will work closely with executives business unit leaders department heads and other teams across the Company to address and resolve legal matters support business goals and ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Manage numerous and varied legal disputes in multiple jurisdictions
• Actively engage in all facets of case management including investigation assessment strategy and resolution
• Supervise direct and collaborate with outside counsel including case strategy motions practice discovery mediation and trial preparation
• Actively engage with companys risk management department concerning coverage issues and assist with first-party claims
• Actively engage with companys third-party administrator to coordinate case management
• Assist with outside counsel guidelines developing budgets matter staffing and developing alternative fee arrangements
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant federal state and local laws
• Provide clear legal advice and practical business-focused solutions while preserving and protecting the Companys integrity and reputation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school with a strong academic record
• Minimum 7 years of civil litigation experience
• Combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred
• Insurance defense experience preferred along with a working knowledge of claims handling and coverage disputes
• Admission to a U.S. bar (Colorado preferred)
• Excellent strategic and analytical skills strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to work well independently and on a team
• Excellent judgment particularly in determining the significance of legal matters in tandem with business objectives
• Strong interpersonal skills including diplomacy and flexibility and the ability to interface effectively with personnel at all levels throughout the Company
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor communications to the specific intended audience in a way that is clear concise and persuasive
• Ability to embody and project both confidence and humility
• Can perform the functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
• As a salaried position with the company you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities to attend Company events or as a representative of the Company in other situations. The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

• Benefits: Vision Medical and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
• Paid Time Off: sick leave vacation and 6 company observed holidays;
• 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
• Base salary range of $145000 - $185000;
• Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Companys annual bonus plan the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and
