Job Summary

Under the direction of the Operations Manager and Non-Book Manager coordinates the flow of all non-book merchandise from the supporting stockrooms to the selling floors. Thoroughly restocks the main selling floor with all apparel and general merchandise items daily.

Essential Functions:

  • Meets daily with the Operations Manager and General Merchandise Manager to discuss restocking priorities and overall store needs then plans and adjusts accordingly. Follows a prescribed restocking sheet to assess stock levels on the sales floor and note items that require replenishment. Communicates restocking updates and details with the Operations Manager and General Merchandise Manager at the end of each shift.

  • Works on the sales floor in a methodical and organized manner. Frequently interacts with customers responding to questions and requests assisting with merchandise needs and providing a high level of customer service. Demonstrates strong product knowledge and uses suggestive selling to match customer preferences with appropriate merchandise.

  • Collaborates with the Shipping and Receiving Coordinator to manage the movement of newly received merchandise. Restocks apparel and general merchandise on the sales floor ensuring proper merchandising with hangers sizing stickers and neat folding.

  • Assists the General Merchandise Manager in maintaining and updating merchandise displays.

  • Observes and reports cleaning or maintenance needs to the Operations Manager.

  • Helps maintain the organization and cleanliness of stockrooms and supporting areas.

  • Communicates with the General Merchandise Manager regarding stock levels and potential reorder needs.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to noon. Schedule may vary based on University Store event needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Must have strong verbal communication skills work ethic and attention to detail.

  • Excellent customer service required.

  • Retail experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Fingering: Picking pinching typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists hands and/or fingers.

  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet particularly for sustained periods of time.

  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. 9: Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward downward or outward.

  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw drag haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.


Working Conditions: The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Types of Work: Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

$17.75 - Pay Commensurate with Experience
