Qualifications
- Licensed or Registered Veterinary Technician with a comprehensive background in veterinary medicine
- Exhibits a professional image and approach
- Consistent and reliable with a proactive approach to responsibilities and a strong sense of ownership
- Strong communication abilities with adept problem-solving and organizational skills
- Demonstrates emotional intelligence and fosters a collaborative high-performance team environment
- Interest in and understanding of advanced diagnostic imaging and patient care during procedures and recovery
- Proficient in induction and intubating patients
- Ability to operate a variety of anesthetic machines and circuits including ventilator rebreather and non-rebreather systems
- Ability to perform and experience with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Minimum of 3 years in specialty veterinary medicine preferred
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe and effective anesthesia and sedation ensuring efficient quality and compassionate patient care throughout all procedures
- Ensure technical procedures are performed according to SVIs standard operating procedures in a timely manner
- Obtain patient histories and manage updates in ezyVet practice management software
- Communicate patient care plans estimates consent forms and details on diagnostic and biopsy procedures to clients and team
- Conduct patient evaluations through vitals and diagnostic tests such as bloodwork ECG cytology radiographs etc.
- Perform venipuncture IV catheter placement fluid administration intubation anesthesia induction and prep for imaging procedures
- Monitor anesthesia and vital signs; manage contingencies and respond effectively during emergencies
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians maintaining a working knowledge of common drug applications and dosages
- Assist in a range of diagnostic imaging processes including X-ray nuclear medicine ultrasound CT and MRI
- Participate in our teaching program
- Implement radiation safety measures and assist with I-131 therapy administration
- Maintain hospital cleanliness and manage medical and lab inventory
