AI Science Manager

Role Overview

As an AI Science Manager in IQVIAs Applied Data Science Center (ADSC) you will lead the development and delivery of advanced AI/ML solutions for life sciences and healthcare clients. You will combine deep scientific expertise technical leadership and strategy consulting skills to drive impactful projects manage client relationships and lead multidisciplinary teams. Your work will be pivotal in shaping IQVIAs technical leadership and credibility in AI-driven healthcare transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific & Technical Leadership

• Lead the design development and deployment of scalable AI/ML solutions including Generative AI and Agentic AI frameworks.
• Fine-tune and distil large language models (LLMs) for diverse use cases; transform raw data into trainable datasets for model development.
• Apply advanced techniques such as Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) Proximal Policy Optimisation (PPO) and reward modelling.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI/ML and proactively introduce emerging techniques into client solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

Infrastructure & Solution Architecture

• Collaborate with Solution Architects to design and map infrastructure solutions aligned with IQVIA standards accommodating client-specific requirements and constraints.
• Support solution migrations across diverse client infrastructures ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption.
• Act as a subject matter expert in cloud architecture (especially AWS) CI/CD pipelines containerisation secrets management and enterprise-grade monitoring/logging.
• Support complex R&D data harmonisation and infrastructure-sensitive AI/ML deployments.

Strategy Consulting & Client Engagement

• Lead technical discussions with clients translating infrastructure and business requirements into actionable delivery plans.
• Apply consulting principles to deliver tailored AI solutions that meet specific client needs.
• Collaborate with internal and client teams to scope use cases develop proof-of-concepts and plan for solution launch at scale.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with senior client stakeholders acting as a trusted advisor.

Project & People Management

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring high-quality delivery within deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Take responsibility for project management including methodology development execution and client workshop facilitation.
• Mentor and coach junior team members supporting their technical and professional development.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Extensive experience in AWS cloud architecture solution migrations CI/CD containerisation and secrets management.
• Proven track record in technical consulting client engagement and project management within life sciences or healthcare.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure Databricks) and deploying ML models at scale including Azure OpenAI Services.
• Excellent problem-solving analytical and interpretative skills; ability to think creatively and critically.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness and business judgement with an interest in healthcare industry trends.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Computer Science Data Science Engineering or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python (and/or R Java Scala SQL) with hands-on experience in frameworks such as PyTorch LangChain LangGraph GraphRAG AutoGen and vector/graph databases.
• Peer-reviewed publications in AI/ML or related fields.
• Experience with patient-level longitudinal healthcare data epidemiology or biostatistics.
• Knowledge of real-world evidence and healthcare analytics.
• Experience in strategy consulting and business transformation projects.
