POSTING: Casual Custodian

Primary Purpose: The Custodian is responsible for ensuring that all community and administrative buildings are clean safe and well maintained. This position supports a healthy and welcoming environment for staff community members and visitors by carrying out cleaning sanitation and light maintenance duties in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES/Duties:

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of offices hallways washrooms and community spaces.
• Sweep mop vacuum and polish floors.
• Empty garbage and recycling containers and ensure proper waste disposal.
• Refill supplies such as soap paper towels and toilet paper.
• Clean windows walls and surfaces as required.
• Monitor and report any maintenance or safety issues to the Facilities Manager.
• Assist with set-up and clean-up for meetings community events and gatherings.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and use protective equipment as required.
• Support other Public Works or Facilities staff as needed.

• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in custodial janitorial or maintenance work preferred.
• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and use of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable punctual and organized.
• Physical ability to lift carry and perform manual tasks.
• Valid Class G drivers licence (or equivalent) and access to reliable transportation is an asset.
• Must be able to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (and/or Vulnerable Sector Check if applicable).

Salary: $18.00/hr -$19.00/hr
