Following a direct protocol policy or procedure or order from a licensed provider provides technical support to professional medical and nursing staff. Duties consist of the following routine clinical tasks: collection of laboratory specimens performing adult venipuncture and adult and pediatric capillary sticks and performing clinical laboratory tests to include hemoglobin hematocrit glucose urine pregnancy fecal occult blood sedimentation rate and urine dipsticks. Sterilizes instruments inventories and orders supplies maintains logs files and records collects clinical data and compiles statistics. Works under the supervision of a licensed provider. Evidence of specific training in performing specialized duties and functions based on area of assignment is required.
VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B measles mumps rubella and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current years seasonal influenza vaccination
