POSTING: Early Years Manager
Full-time position
Primary Purpose: The Early Years Manager is responsible for the overall management operation and delivery of quality childcare services within Thessalon First Nation Daycare Centre. This role ensures that programming meets childcare regulations funding requirements and supports the cultural spiritual emotional intellectual and physical development of children in a safe nurturing and culturally appropriate environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES/Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the daycare including staffing scheduling enrollment and program delivery.
- Provide leadership mentorship and supervision to daycare staff including Early Childhood Educators support workers and casual staff.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable childcare legislation licensing requirements and First Nation policies.
- Develop implement and evaluate policies procedures and programs to meet the needs of children families and community.
- Plan and deliver early learning programming that supports childrens developmental needs and reflects First Nation culture traditions and language.
- Incorporate land-based learning and culturally relevant teachings in collaboration with Elders Knowledge Keepers and community members.
- Ensure programming fosters inclusion diversity and respect for all children and families.
- Maintain a safe clean and healthy environment in compliance with public health and childcare regulations.
- Ensure proper nutrition hygiene and safety standards are always followed.
- Maintain accurate documentation for licensing inspections and audits.
- Manage budgets funding proposals and financial reporting as required by the First Nation and funders.
- Maintain enrollment records attendance and reporting in accordance with regulatory and funding requirements.
- Prepare reports and updates for Chief and Council and other governing bodies.
- Build positive relationships with families providing ongoing communication support and opportunities for involvement.
- Collaborate with other community programs (health education social services) to provide holistic support to children and families.
- Promote the daycare as a welcoming culturally grounded and supportive environment for all families.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and current certification/registration with the relevant licensing body.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in an early childhood education setting with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Knowledge of applicable childcare legislation licensing and best practices.
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities; knowledge of First Nation traditions languages and culture considered a strong asset.
- Ability to work respectfully with Elders Knowledge Keepers and families to integrate traditional knowledge and practices into programming.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check (mandatory).
- Valid G Class License
Salary: $30.00/hr-$35.00/hr
