Role Overview:
You will work as part of a remote team responsible for producing UK-standard Mechanical & Electrical; designs as part of a full pre-construction service including design drawings schematics coordination documents and relevant compliance information. Your designs will be used as the foundation for estimating BoQs and tender packages delivered to UK-based clients including main contractors and developers.
Goals and Expectations
- Turnaround for designs is typically 37 working days depending on complexity.
- All work must be accurate compliant with British standards and formatted to UK drawing standards.
- Must be responsive flexible and able to collaborate via Teams Zoom or email.

UK Building Standards & Regulations
- CIBSE Codes of Practice
- British Standards for Mechanical and Electrical services (e.g. BS 7671 BS 5839 BS 5266 BSEN 12845)
- Approved Documents (Part L Part F Part B etc.)
- TM65 Embodied Carbon Reporting (basic awareness is a bonus)
- SFG20 (maintenance awareness)
- BREEAM and building compliance concepts (desirable)
Mechanical Systems Knowledge:
- HVAC (VRF split chilled water ducted systems)
- LTHW / Heating pipework schematics
- Hot & cold water supply designs
- Soil waste and above-ground drainage layouts
- Plantroom layouts and sizing
Electrical Systems Knowledge:
- Power distribution design (single line diagrams)
- Small power and lighting layouts
- Emergency lighting (BS 5266)
- Fire Alarm design (BS 5839)
- Containment routing and sizing
- Panel schedules (LV distribution)
Software Requirements
- AutoCAD (2D M&E; drawings)
- Revit (MEP modelling desirable)
- Microsoft Office (for schematics reports)
- Dialux or Relux (lighting calcs optional bonus)
- Any UK-based template or layout familiarity a huge advantage
Non-negotiable requirements:
- Must be able to use CAD and other design drawing tools with knowledge of 3D & BIM modelling an advantage but not a requirement.
- The candidate will be working on various designs from Restaurant bars offices schools & hotels
- Must have working knowledge of Breeam EPC Certification and other regulations within the UK.
