As part of a hardworking team of technicians welders fabricators and engineers you will use your skills and knowledge to complete build-to-print and prototype work for various programs and projects across the company. You will share in the teams impact on all aspects of fabricating weldments of various size complexity and materials while ensuring safety and quality goals are achieved. Mechanical aptitude ability to follow written and verbal instructions and ability to communicate as a team member both verbally and in writing this role you will collaborate with welders and engineering to ensure designers receive the exact weldment they need.

This position will report to the Welding Supervisor and directly supports the Advance Manufacturing and Ground Systems Development team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and industry specifications
• Weld preparation including cutting blending chamfering and cleaning parts.
• Set up operate and monitor saw machinery to cut materials according to production specifications blueprints or work orders
• Determine and install the correct blade set guides and stop to achieve specifics lengths and adjust machine speed and tension as needed.
• Measure and inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance on the saw equipment which can include cleaning lubricating and replacement worn parts like saw blades.
• Move sort and stack raw material and finished parts using forklifts.
• Work with production teams to optimize workflow prioritize cutting schedule and minimize waste.
• Support Sr welders with weld preparations.
• Familiar with barge operations and repairs.
• Design support and fabrication tooling required for welding and assembly

Minimum Qualifications:

• 4 years of direct experience
• Basic knowledge of welding at least one of: carbon steel stainless steel aluminum
• Self-sufficient with the ability to work within a team environment or independently as required
• Ability to use precision hand tools standard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment
• Ability to develop and fabricate fixtures and tooling
• Ability to climb ladders stairs work in small/restricted areas and lift to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong background in joint preparation fit-up and fabrication
• Plasma saw and/or oxyacetylene cutting experience
• Understanding of GD&T and Welding Symbols
• Forklift operation
• Rigging experience

• Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
