Classifications for this position will range from VG3 to VG6 ($104135.20 - $118981.20 per annum).
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention for general medical inpatients.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support safe and timely discharge.
Contribute to service improvement and implementation of evidence-based practice.
Supervise and support junior staff and students.
Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy with current AHPRA registration.
Demonstrated clinical expertise in acute care or general medicine.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Experience supervising students or junior staff.
Current National Criminal History Check or willingness to obtain.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The inpatient Occupational Therapy service at SVHM is based across 3 campuses; St Vincents Fitzroy; St Georges Hospital in Kew St Vincents Hospital on the Park East Melbourne and provides services to both acute and subacute inpatients across these sites plus a correctional health service at Port Philip Prison. The department comprises approx. 26 EFT in total. The Grade 3 Team Leader Acute medical role within the Occupational therapy department will be located primarily at Hospital Fitzroy. From time to time they may be required to work across site.
PURPOSE
Accountable to the Manager Occupational therapy department the Grade 3 Occupational Therapist is responsible for the development implementation and delivery of a high quality occupational therapy service to inpatients of the acute medical stream at St Vincents Hospital. The role requires leadership skills to oversee the day-to-day operation of the occupational therapy service at hospital.
POSITION DUTIES
Provide optimal Occupational Therapy clinical management to all patients through the continuum of care by assessment treatment re-evaluation documentation team liaison and effective discharge planning.
Undertake a clinical caseload and provide a clinically relevant service based on evidence based practice.
Liaise with other Senior Clinicians Acute and Sub Acute (Fitzroy Kew campuses) to provide relevant clinical learning opportunities for staff.
Plan and implement appropriate treatment from established goals using best practice principles and evidence based practice.
Ensure direct communication and consultation with the primary Occupational Therapist regarding patient management.
Ensure effective management of and access to Occupational Therapy aids and equipment to maximise patient independence and safety.
Contribute to the planning and development of activities and services of the Occupational Therapy Service as appropriate.
Co-ordinate and actively participate in departmental clinical supervision program.
Actively participate in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Occupational Therapy inpatient service.
Staff clinical loads annual leave ADOs and conference leave are effectively and efficiently managed in consultation with the occupational therapy manager.
Monitor quality improvement activities for the St Georges Hospital campus and keep occupational therapy manager updated.
