The Position:
HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngster) is a free twoyear homebased early childhood learning program that empowers parents and carers to be their childs first teacher.
The program delivers to families who have a child aged 3 years and 4 years delivering support during the two years before they commence school. HIPPY is a free two-year play-based curriculum with fun activity packs and storybooks. Starting when the child turns three HIPPY mentors practice the activities with the parent and carer using role play at home visits. HIPPY assists children to become curious learners and to achieve important developmental the second year of HIPPY families learn skills to assist with preparing their child for school. Families spend 10 to 15 minutes a day doing educational activities with their child.
The Home Mentor is encouraged to participate in available training opportunities in the local area or provided by the program.
