In the Child & Family Support Team you are integral to the success of the Community Support Department by delivering high-quality customer service and administration skills to facilitate access to Maternal & Child Health services and the kindergarten Central Registration Scheme for the community.


This rewarding role will require you to be able to address the needs of our community in an efficient and effective manner maintaining compliance with our regulatory and operational requirements and procedures. We are seeking Child & Family Support Assistants to join our team supporting the delivery of Maternal & Child Health services in a temporary capacity or the kindergarten Central Registration Scheme in a permanent capacity ensuring that Wyndham is meeting the growing demand for these services.

Within the Maternal & Child Health stream your day-to-day will see you processing notifications of new births in Wyndham responding to nurse requests maintaining the appointment calendars and crucially supporting customer access to the service. Previous experience in MCH health early years services or a similar highly-regulated environment is desirable.


Within the kindergarten central registration stream your day-to-day will involve administering the Central Registration Scheme. You will be responsible for processing registration applications into the central registration system empowering families to navigate and access kindergarten services and responding to a variety of complex customer queries. Previous experience in early years services or central registration is desirable.

What your day will look like

  • Providing friendly professional and helpful assistance to community members supporting them to access early years and family services that meet their needs.

  • Delivering accurate and efficient administrative support to the Community Support Department contributing to the smooth operation of all children and family services.

  • Processing registrations bookings and birth notifications in line with council policies procedures and regulatory requirements.

  • Liaising with internal teams and external partners about registrations referrals bookings and system updates to ensure accurate information sharing and service delivery.

  • Maintaining accurate records data entry and statistical reporting using council databases and reporting systems.

  • Supporting continuous improvement by assisting with general administrative tasks and other duties aligned with your skills abilities and the needs of the team.


What you will bring

  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment collaboratively and respectfully striving towards Councils values policies and procedures

  • Strong administrative experience with proficiency in a range of computer systems and the ability to learn other software programs

  • High-level customer service and problem-resolution skills to support community and stakeholders in a dynamic fast-paced environment

  • The ability to organise and control ones own workload and time to achieve specified outputs

  • Certificate in administration or relevant administration experience

  • Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one
