Job Summary
Title: Music Teacher - .8 FTELocation: Haynes Elementary SchoolReports to: PrincipalPosition Summary: Sudbury Public Schools is seeking a qualified Music Teacher to work in grades PreK-5 who will create a safe and welcoming environment for students to learn music. The Music Teacher is responsible for delivering a high quality experience through creativity resourcefulness and sound judgement consistent with the curriculum frameworks.-Proficient piano or guitar skills desired-Training in an elementary music methodology is a plus e.g. Orff Kodaly Music Learning TheoryKey Duties & Responsibilities:Plan and implement engaging age-appropriate lessons designed to foster musical development for students in Kindergarten through Grade a program of study that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students;Communicate with parents and other colleagues regarding students;Plan and assess curriculum and instruction;Mentor students understanding and adjust instruction materials or assessments when appropriate;Manage classroom environment including communication with classroom teachers as needed;Seek the assistance of district specialists as required regarding the learning disabilities of students;Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement;Differentiate instructions based on student learning needs;Collaborate toward school-wide activities and performances (assemblies musicals theatre etc.);Foster student interest in and understanding of music;Perform other related duties as : SEA Unit PositionSchedule: 183 days or prorated based on date of hire - .8 FTE scheduleSalary: Commensurate with education and experience based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
