Salary: Starting at 61.07 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
The Pharmacist - Casual is responsible for ensuring the safe effective and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical care at the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomis (NHBP) retail pharmacy site in Battle Creek Michigan. This casual position is designed to provide essential coverage and continuity of pharmacy operations during the absence of the Pharmacy Director or as requested to properly respond to increase demands in service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Prepare medications by reviewing and assessing orders to identify prevent and resolve drug related problems.
  2. Perform drug utilization reviews and check for drug interactions when filling every prescription.
  3. Dispense medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects.
  4. Evaluate medication use patterns and outcomes for patients.
  5. Provide consultation with other health care providers to coordinate therapeutic goals to obtain the best patient treatment.
  6. Comply with all pharmacy laws and regulations.
  7. Operate point-of-sale systems to scan prescriptions and process payments (cash credit debit).
  8. Maintain all medication records required by law.
  9. Answer telephone calls from patients about pharmacy processes pharmacology adverse reactions and other information.
  10. Report concerns/complaints involving the pharmacy services to the Pharmacy Director for resolution.
  11. Maintain the proper pharmaceutical stores of desired quality and quantity on site.
  12. Follow established departmental policies procedures and objectives continuous quality improvement objectives and safety environmental and/or infection control standards.
  13. Comply with accepted standards of care confidentiality and privacy laws and policies and procedures of the NHBP in performing duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor of Science from an accredited pharmacy program.
  2. Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Michigan
  3. Complete and pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screening in accordance with NHBP standards.
  4. Experience working with highly confidential and sensitive information and both preserving and maintaining confidential and sensitive information which includes following HIPAA requirements.
  5. Able to adjust schedule as needed or required.
  6. Understand or gain knowledge of and appreciate the Native American culture and customs.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Knowledge and understanding of relevant physiology pathophysiology and disease states pertinent to scope of practice defined in collaborative practice agreement.
  2. Skill in the assessment of patients and their drug regimens the development of nonpharmacological and pharmacological therapeutic plans.
  3. Able to creatively work with other health care professionals from a variety of disciplines to achieve maximal program effectiveness and patient benefit.
  4. Ability to comprehend and abide by Tribal State Federal and other relevant regulations and policies.
  5. Excellent customer service skills.
  6. Strong ability to organize and maintain electronic and physical files.
  7. Ability to be self-directed and be an excellent problem solver.
  8. Ability to work with constant interruptions and organize/prioritize duties.
SECURITY SENSITIVE
This position will involve access to information that is security sensitive and thereby subject to additional provisions. All information obtained will be protected under NHBP/IHS/HIPAA policies rules and regulations.
