Job Summary

Summary

The PhysicalTherapy Technician generally functions under the general supervision of thelicensed therapists in performing patient related activities. Prepares equipment for treatment; performshousekeeping duties for the facility; assists the therapists with selectedpatient care procedures; performs other diverse duties as required for thesmooth and safe operation of the clinical support in a manner that guarantees treatment care andsafety of patients regardless of race creed age (e.g. infants childrenadolescents adults geriatrics ages 0 - 120 years) gender or disabilitywithout bias or prejudice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participatein administration of the assigned facility as requested by the Physical Therapist.
  • Participatein in-service education as scheduled by the department/hospital.
  • Performon-going housekeeping duties within the facility in order to maintaincleanliness and safety of the facility.
  • Demonstrateregard for the dignity and respect of all patients family members staff andvisitors.
  • Maintainsconfidentiality of all current and former patients.
  • Responsiblefor interacting with fellow employees in a manner that promotes a harmoniousand cooperative working environment.
  • Preparethe clinical area for clean and safe patient care.
  • Retrievesclinical records for each patient to be treated.
  • Escorteach patient from the reception area to the clinical treatment areas in a safeand efficient manner.
  • Assisteach patient with treatment preparation as necessary including removal ofclothing and proper draping.
  • Notifythe treating therapist of a patients readiness to be treated.
  • Assistthe therapist in selected procedures and techniques as specifically directed bythe therapist.
  • Assistthe entire facility staff in maintaining a safe and comfortable working problems and suggestions to the supervisor.

Professional Requirements

  • Meets dress code standards and adheres topolicies.
  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduledcompletes work within designated time.
  • Wears identification while on duty usescomputerized punch time system correctly.
  • Completes in-services and returns in a timelyfashion.
  • Attends annual review and departmentin-services as scheduled.
  • Attends staff meetings as scheduled reads and returnsall monthly staff meeting minutes.
  • Represents the organization in a positive andprofessional manner.
  • Actively participates in performance improvementand continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regardingethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission ethics and goals ofthe hospital as well as the focus statement of the department.
  • Assists other staff members in performing anyduty that enhances the delivery of patient care.
  • 1 (One) year of PT technician experience preferred.


Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Certification Requirements

(CR.1c) As part of the Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Certification at a minimum the Program direct-care staff must have eight (8) hours of education specific to the Program scope initially and at least annually thereafter.

(CR.1e) As part of the Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Certification staff possess adaptability to processes as related to up-to-date best practices collaboration between departments compliance with protocols/processes communication cooperation and exceptional customer service.

Within 90 days of hire or if currently employed within 90 days of signing the job description must adhere to:

  • Orientation of Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Certification
  • In compliance with the Program education requirements
  • Completed department specific competencies

Regulatory Requirements

  • HighSchool Diploma or equivalent GED have sufficient knowledge of the reasons for patient care asadministered in the facility. On the job training is available.
  • Current BLS certification or able to obtainwithin 30 days of hire.

Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively in Englishboth verbally and in writing.
  • Basiccomputer knowledge.
  • Ability to organize time in order to maintain ahigh level of efficiency.

Physical Demands

The physicaldemands described here are representative of those that must be met by anemployee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Whileperforming the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talkand hear. This position is very active and requires repetitive motions standingwalking bending kneeling and stooping all day. The employee must frequentlylift or move items weighing up to 100 pounds.
