Job Description

The Montgomery College Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a Part-time Faculty Tutor. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teachers who exhibits a high degree of professionalism a strong commitment to our students and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions both online and in person in writing reading and language skills
  • Support students in developing academic strategies and building confidence in their skills
  • Use technology effectively to enhance learning and maintain accurate session records
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students faculty and staff
  • Foster a positive supportive and inclusive learning environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in English Linguistics Composition/Rhetoric TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) a related academic field or the equivalent combination of education training and experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with instructional technology and educational materials employed with regard to learning resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in explaining subject matter principles techniques and practices student learning using personal computers and instructional technology.
  • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging inclusion and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e. office classroom college campus)*. Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform password-protected faculty sections of the website college listservs and other faculty communications tools. *If you do not have access to a personal computer please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.

For degrees earned outside of the U.S. a copy of your education equivalency conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service must be included in your application.

Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC VA PA WV DE MA).
