Key job responsibilities
Design and develop a state-of-the-art Agentic service platform using advanced Gen AI/ML technologies that provide consistent well-reasoned outcomes for advertiser guidance in a secure & reusable architecture delivering low latency and secure advertiser experiences
Lead business and science strategy and roadmap for the team
Design and build agents to guide advertisers in conversational and non-conversational experience.
Design and implement advanced model and agent optimization techniques including supervised fine-tuning instruction tuning and preference optimization (e.g. DPO/IPO).
Curate datasets and tools for MCP.
Build evaluation pipelines for agent workflows including automated benchmarks multi-step reasoning tests and safety guardrails.
Collaborate with peers across engineering and product to bring scientific innovations into production.
Stay current with the latest research in LLMs RL and agent-based AI and translate findings into practical applications.

As a Sr. Applied Scientist on the Sponsored Products and Brands Agentic Guidance Integrations (SPB-AGI) team you will architect and build the next-generation AI platform that will power personalization and intelligent advertising experiences for millions of merchants and brands worldwide. You are:

About the team
Were looking for a brilliant Applied Scientist to spearhead our Sponsored Products and Brands Agentic Integrations (SPB-AI) team. The team owns the foundational infrastructure for SPB agentic experiences providing a unified entry point for internal and external agentic applications. Our teams charter is to build a highly personalized context-aware agentic guidance system that leverages LLMs ML models and optimization algorithms. This agentic infrastructure will operate across both chat and non-chat experiences in the ad console scaling to natural language queries as well as proactively delivering guidance based on deep understanding of the advertiser.

The agentic experiences we own include personalized insights guidance holistically accounting for an advertisers product catalog performance metrics and other relevant signals. Examples of surfaces that will leverage the SPB Agent include but not limited to: 1) Personalization for an advertisers experience throughout the Advertiser Console where the SPB Agent will utilize advertiser and page level context to determine how to tailor a full page experience to an advertiser updating individual widgets with recommendations or filtering capabilities that are most applicable 2) an AI companion in Next Gen Selling Seller Central or Seller Assistant that provides a personalized interactive and automated experience where Selling Partners receive data-backed guidance for growing their business making autonomous decisions and executing actions on behalf of sellers and 3) AI for Sales pitches that are optimized through the SPB Agent insights.

- 3 years of building machine learning models for business application experience
- PhD or Masters degree and 6 years of applied research experience
- Experience programming in Java C Python or related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

- Experience with modeling tools such as R scikit-learn Spark MLLib MxNet Tensorflow numpy scipy etc.
- Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop Spark etc.
