Equipment Operator II - Signs & Markings
The City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome an Equipment Operator II to their Public Works Maintenance Operations division! As an Equipment Operator for this team you willconstruct and maintain traffic sign and markings infrastructure for the Citys Public Works Department. This team ensures the safe and efficient flow of traffic by installing repairing and replacing signage and pavement markings in accordance with city addition to operating specialized equipment you will also assist with inspections and perform routine maintenance.

    Work Schedule:
    6:30AM - 5:00PM. Either Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday depending on crew assignment after hire. This position requires that you are available for emergency callouts.
    Hourly Salary: $25.87 - $31.06


    As an Equipment Operator II for this team you will:
    • Installsigns and markings using various equipment and hand tools in compliance with federal standards
    • Use Cartegraph to review work orders
    • Coordinate with supervisors traffic technicians and other departments to support signs and markings needs
    • Transport materials and equipment to and from maintenance and construction sites
    • Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment
    • Apply chemicals abrasives and other ice control products
    • Snow and Ice Control Operations along with other emergency response as needed for different events (Snow rain hail wind fire etc.)
    • Maintain log and record books
    • Perform manual labor such as grinding painting sweeping shoveling and use of hand tools

    We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
    Knowledge of:
    • Pertinent federal state and localguidelines and standards
    • Software programs used in the operation of print machines and creation ofdesigns
    • Methods and techniques of sign design

    Ability to:
    • Safely operate a variety of equipment and hand tools
    • Safely operate assigned vehicle
    • Communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
    • Three years of full-time professional experience in related field
    • Possess or obtain upon hire and maintain a valid non-probationary Colorado drivers license not subject to restrictions
    • Possess upon hire and maintain a valid non-probationary Colorado Class B CDL not subject to restrictions is required for this position

    Physical Demands:The position requires the ability to pull reach bend climb kneel sit stand and walk for extended periods lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently and use fingers hands and legs; distinguish colors and safely operate assigned vehicle and equipment.
