Clinical Nurse Specialist – General (Sain-Altra Ginearálta) Tissue Viability and Wound Management (Inmharthanacht fíocháin agus bainistiú créachta) Primary Care Services HSE South West (FSS an Iardheiscirt)

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Tissue Viability and Wound Management will demonstrate an advanced level of specialist knowledge expertise and skill to provide quality safe care to all clients within the Public Health Nursing service. The CNS (Tissue Viability and Wound Management) caseload includes all age groups within the Public Health Nursing service. The CNS will provide for the seamless care to all client s co-ordinate care and liaise between clients parents families/carers acute and community multidisciplinary teams as appropriate.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Tissue Viability and Wound Management) will liaise closely with all clinicians involved in the diagnosis management and on-going care of all patients attending acute care who require complex wound management in the community setting. He/she will liaise with other health care professionals involved in patient care within the community with acute care and other health care agencies as appropriate.

The post holder will be responsible for the development of all staff to deliver person centred care in line with best practise within the Public Health Nursing service. This development will occur through role modelling peer review journal clubs demonstration practical skills workshops and focus groups. The post holder will have and important educational role within the service and will play a role in the development of quality initiatives. The post holder will also be responsible for auditing and identifying areas for development with the relevant Director of Public Health Nursing.

The post holder will practice in accordance with relevant legislation and with regard to The Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland 2025).
