The Opportunity Te Kōwhiringa
Were looking for a motivated Contract Engineer to join our Auckland team. Youll be responsible for supporting the Contract Manager in overseeing on-site construction activities ensuring works are completed to the highest standards of quality safety and environmental performance.

This role combines technical expertise financial awareness and people managementperfect for someone looking to advance their engineering career in a hands-on fast-paced environment.

What youll be doing:

Monitor on-site construction to ensure compliance with specifications safety and quality standards.
Assist with project planning methodology budgeting and tender documentation.
Track material procurement deliveries and subcontractor performance.
Support financial management through cost tracking quantity reporting and variation control.
Maintain accurate site diaries and project documentation.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients subcontractors and internal teams.
Promote a proactive safety culture and contribute to Downers Zero Harm initiatives.

Important Skills Nga Pūkenga Matua

A tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) in engineering construction or business management.
2 years experience in construction or civil engineering.
Strong understanding of quality assurance safety compliance and project management principles.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A proactive solutions-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.
