We are integrated with our Early Help and Social Care colleagues and share an integrated electronic record which supports communication and co-ordination.
We currently have a number of part time and full-time posts throughout the county.
The Role:
This developmental Community Nurse position is designed to support your growth into a future SCPHN. You will work within the School Nursing 519 Team delivering the Healthy Child Programme across a vibrant community caseload. Youll collaborate with schools GPs Family Hubs and Early Years settings to promote health wellbeing and early intervention.
Under the guidance of experienced School Nursing team youll take delegated responsibility for assessment planning implementation and evaluation of public health interventions. Youll also supervise and support Family Health Workers and School Nurse Assistants helping to shape the next generation of care.
Development Pathway
Once competencies are completed we are proud to offer a Level 7 module with a public health focus to support your professional development. This module is a stepping stone to applying for the SCPHN course in 2027 subject to a successful interview and will help you build confidence in postgraduate study.
Youll be supported to:
Complete the Community Nurse Competency Framework
Engage in reflective practice and professional development
Participate in feedback and action planning to track your growth
Upon successful completion of the required competencies youll be supported to apply for the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing course. Please note that some travel may be required depending on the location of the course delivery.
