Trucks move 71% of freight in America ($800bn annually) & the trucking industry represents nearly 6% of the full-time jobs in the country. If you look around you every item has sat on a truck at one point on its journey to you. However despite the industry being one of the greatest levers of innovation throughout history it is still deeply fragmented & structurally misaligned. Our mission is to fix thatand we need your help.
The Role
Were looking for senior platform engineers to help us build the foundation that enables TruckSmarters vision of eliminating inefficiencies across the freight industry. Youll architect and maintain the systems that keep our platform fast resilient and cost-efficient and be deeply involved in designing core services improving developer velocity and building infrastructure that supports both traditional and AI-based workloads.
In this role you will:
Design and evolve the core platform architecture including core application frameworks and abstractions powering TruckSmarters systems.
Build and scale the infrastructure that powers our traditional ML and agentic-AI systems.
Build and maintain reliable infrastructure across AWS (ECS Fargate RDS S3 WAF Redshift DMS and related services) using IaC (CDK Terraform).
Define and automate deployment pipelines CI/CD and observability frameworks.
Lead security initiatives to ensure compliance harden systems and improve access controls.
Mentor engineers on best practices in reliability automation and performance engineering.
Drive incident response and postmortem culture to increase resilience and operational excellence.

What Excites Us
3 years of experience building and scaling production infrastructure.
Strong background in AWS (ECS RDS VPC S3 IAM WAF) and IaC (CDK Cloudformation Terraform or similar).
Experience in fast-paced startup environments where youve had to wear multiple hats.
Comfortable with TypeScript and or similar back-end ecosystems.
Proven ability to lead projects end-to-end and mentor peers.
Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Working model: TruckSmarter offers an in-office collaborative culture. This role is based out of our downtown San Francisco office and requires in-office presence three days per week (typically Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays).
