SEDR Recruitment is partnering with a national civil engineering and earthworks contractor to appoint a SHEQ Health & Safety Advisor for a major infrastructure programme in the South West.
This business is one of the most forward-thinking names in UK heavy civils known for investment in new plant genuine internal progression and a safety culture driven by collaboration not compliance.
The appointed advisor will take a hands-on role supporting operational delivery on a large-scale bulk earthworks and remediation contract working closely with site teams to ensure safe efficient and high-quality project execution.

Key Responsibilities
Provide proactive site-based HSE advice and coaching to operational teams and subcontractors
Carry out regular site inspections audits and safety tours to promote best practice
Deliver site inductions toolbox talks and refresher training to all levels of staff
Lead and support investigations into incidents near misses and unsafe acts
Review update and maintain project-specific risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
Monitor performance and prepare accurate monthly SHEQ performance reports
Drive behavioural safety and continuous improvement through engagement and visibility
Liaise confidently with client SHE representatives and contribute to review meetings
Requirements
Essential
Previous experience in a Health & Safety or SHEQ role within civil engineering earthworks or major construction
NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
In-depth understanding of CDM Regulations and on-site compliance requirements
Practical approachable and capable of influencing at site level
