Job Summary
Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Day Shift)
Location: Watertown NY 13601
Duration: 13-weeks contract
Shift: 8-hr Day
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Weekly Pay Rate: $2400 $2680; (Negotiable based on experience)
Position Summary:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. The RN is responsible for patient assessment planning implementation and evaluation of care before during and after surgical procedures ensuring adherence to hospital policies standards of care and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in the perioperative setting ensuring a safe and aseptic environment.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by anticipating instrument and equipment needs.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Assess plan implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Collaborate effectively with the surgical team anesthesia providers and other healthcare professionals.
- Monitor patient status intraoperatively and recognize/respond to any changes.
- Ensure proper handling and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in on-call rotations including weekends and holidays.
- May serve as a Charge Nurse when required overseeing staff assignments and workflow.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Licensure: Current and active New York State RN license (or eligibility).
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Preferred
- Experience:
- Minimum of one year of medical/surgical experience preferred.
- Previous Operating Room or perioperative experience strongly preferred.
- Preceptorship charge nurse and leadership experience desirable.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to interpret lethal dysrhythmias.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively under stress.
- Strong leadership prioritization and delegation skills.
- Physically able to use lifts and assist in safe patient handling.
Note:
- Radius Rule: Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from Watertown NY. Local candidates within this radius are not eligible.
