Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) provides nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a long-term care facility. Responsibilities include gathering and reporting patient data implementing orders and performing therapeutic procedures appropriate for the patients age and condition adhering to facility policies and procedures.
Location:Seward Alaska United States
Responsibilities:

- Provide nursing care as directed by an RN.
- Gather and report patient data.
- Carry out physician orders.
- Perform therapeutic procedures on patients.
- Document patient care and related duties.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Collect specimens and monitor vital signs.
- Communicate patient status changes to licensed professionals.
- Assist with patient admissions discharges and transfers.
- Maintain and clean equipment.
- Answer phone calls and direct them appropriately.
- Coordinate equipment and supply needs.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- Current LVN/LPN license in the state of assignment.
- BLS certification.
- Previous travel experience.
- Long Term Care (LTC) experience.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Inpatient medical-surgical nursing experience.
- Experience in emergency or critical care environments.
- Comfort level working with vents/trachs/PICC lines.
- Two years of experience in direct patient care.
Special Considerations:

- Must be willing to float within scope to meet facility needs.
- No on-call requirement.
- Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major Winter holidays (Thanksgiving Christmas New Years).
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility.
- Facility will arrange for a vehicle for traveler to use while on assignment.
Scheduling:
- 4x12 or 3x12 Variable shifts (travelers choice).
- Shifts will be either Days or Nights dependent on facility needs at the time of start date.
- Guaranteed 60 hours per 2 weeks.
- Traveler can be called off for one 12-hour shift per 2 weeks.
