Project Responsibilities
Perform a broad range of process engineering technology assignments.
Plan and conduct work in evaluation selection and application of standard process engineering techniques procedures and criteria.
Routinely work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Design process equipment such as pumps tanks vessels etc.
Develop relief and overpressure calculations.
Conduct hydraulic studies.
Create new and updated PFDs MSDs Safety Flow Diagrams and P&IDs.
Work in coordination with the High Value Engineering office.
Promote cost reduction and productivity-enhancing initiatives.
Comply with the clients quality assurance safety and sustainability standards.
Ensure department cost and schedule promises are kept during project studies and execution.
Other duties as assigned.
Relationship Development and Communication Responsibilities
Develop strong relationships with engineering contractors technical sales and operations.
Participate in global engineering team initiatives.
Exhibit the clients culture and communication development within the Process Engineering department.
Engineering Capabilities
Capable of working on engineering studies or project execution.
Strong knowledge in chemical engineering fundamentals P&ID development equipment sizing hydraulic calculations and PSV sizing.
Utilize internal design standards consistent with the most updated tools and processes within the client.
Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to achieving corporate delivery and execution requirements.
Work independently to develop engineering deliverables.
What You Will Bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
5 years of demonstrated Process Engineering experience executing projects in the oil and natural gas or chemical industries.
Comfortable and capable of using soft skills to address personnel needs and challenges.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality accurate and timely work to the client and its customers.
A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of Process Engineering and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
Follow the effort-hours budget and process schedule.
Work with the instrument controls group to write control narratives.
Interact with vendors to select the most economical option for equipment.
Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices in all areas of assignments.
Competent use of Process Engineering-specific software including development of:
AspenTech products (HYSYS Flare System Analyzer etc.)
Honeywell Unisim products
Hydraulic modeling software
Other internal and external calculation tools and software
Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
Education and Experience
A bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering is essential.
Extensive industrial experience with demonstrable global-scale chemical processing industry experience either in petroleum refining/production and/or an energy-related sector.
Proven ability to apply sound knowledge of engineering principles to complex and integrated plant designs and operations ideally with emerging technologies experience.
Previous engineering roles held at an EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) contractor are desirable but not essential.
Experience with XTL technologies particularly Fischer-Tropsch and/or renewable fuels is a distinct advantage.
Proficient knowledge of MS Office to an advanced level is required.
Prior experience applying pragmatic problem solving and innovative thinking working independently but equally comfortable operating in a team delegating and providing motivation when appropriate.
Willingness to take ownership and responsibility with the ability to accept input from other individuals as appropriate.
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management coworkers clients vendors contractors and visitors.
Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local state/province and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
