Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with university researchers in developing a HPC simulation software set-up for simulating reservoirs of shallow and deep groundwater resources for the evaluation of geothermal energy usage in the southern part of Bavaria
- Support and maintenance of the specially tailored software stack on LRZs High Performance Computing systems
- Help organize the research data management for data inputs of the model and simulation results
- Participate in developing adapting and testing machine learning algorithms for making projections of groundwater flow using training data generated by the HPC simulations
Basic Qualifications:
- Masters degree(with thesis) or PhD in computer science geology hydrology environmental sciences or any natural science;
- Systemmanagement and scripting:
- knowledgeof Linux and good fluency on the Linux Command Line (bash)
- fluency(or in at least one further programming/scripting language (preferably Python)
- basicfamiliarity with scientific modelling/simulation
- C1level knowledge of English
- A2 level knowledge or higher of German
- Ability to work independently on scientific projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- experience with High Performance Computing (e.g. MPI)
- familiarity with git / gitlab / github
- familiaritywith geological or hydrological model generation e.g.
- PFLOTRAN/FEFLOW
- ModFlow
- Petrell
- Golem/Moose
- SHEMAT-Suite
- basic knowledge of CI/CD
- familiaritywith database systems
- basic knowledge of package/module management systems (e.g. spack)

Remuneration | up to E13 seeEntgelttabelle TV-L |
