Job Summary
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required:
Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all plant operations and engineering activities strictly follow health safety and environmental regulations (e.g. OSHA EPA Process Safety Management (PSM) where applicable).
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture conduct safety audits and participate in accident investigations and risk assessments.
Manage documentation related to compliance and regulatory reporting.
Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement:
Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies bottlenecks and areas for improvement implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
Lead initiatives to optimize batch processes reduce cycle times minimize waste and improve product yield and quality.
Provide technical support to other departments (e.g. operations quality R&D) to troubleshoot complex process issues and ensure product quality standards are met.
Project Management (CapEx):
Develop justify and manage the execution of capital projects from concept to deployment ensuring they are completed on time on budget and meet high-quality standards.
Oversee the acquisition installation operation and maintenance of production equipment and building systems.
Coordinate with external contractors and vendors as needed for project execution and facility maintenance.
Equipment and Maintenance Management:
Oversee plant equipment and infrastructure coordinating with the maintenance team to schedule and manage preventive maintenance (PM) programs to minimize downtime and ensure reliability.
Ensure proper maintenance of process instrumentation and control systems (DCS PLC SCADA).
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead mentor and develop a team of engineers and technicians setting clear objectives and performance goals.
Identify training needs and provide development opportunities to enhance team skills and performance.
Foster a culture of teamwork accountability and innovation within the engineering department.
Budgeting and Financial Management:
Develop and manage the departmental operating and capital budgets monitoring expenditures to contain costs and align with site financial goals.
Drive cost-saving initiatives through innovative technologies and process improvements.
Skills Qualifications Experience Special Physical Requirements:
The Engineering Manager will direct and coordinate all engineering activities within the chemical manufacturing facility focusing on process optimization project management (CapEx) equipment reliability and strict adherence to safety quality and environmental regulations (OSHA EPA etc.). The manager will lead and mentor a team of engineers working closely with the operations and maintenance teams to drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence in a multi-client batch-process environment.
Required:
Bachelors degree in chemical engineering or a related scientific discipline.
7-10 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing or batch processing environment.
Proven experience in process scale-up and optimization.
Hands-on experience with batch processing equipment such as reactors mixers blenders and dryers.
Experience in project management including budget and schedule management.
Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate and lead a technical team.
Excellent analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
