About the Role:

As the team leader you would oversee the planning execution and delivery of all topographic and underground utility surveys ensuring projects are completed on time and to standards such as PAS128. Responsibilities include managing survey projects from start to finish leading and mentoring a team conducting technical quality assurance and managing client relationships. Key skills involve using survey equipment such as GPR and EML GPS and total station CAD software for creating maps and strong project management and communication abilities. This role requires a strong understanding of geography mathematics and the physical characteristics of the terrain.


Surveying Team Leader Team Leader / Office related duties

  • Make contact with any incoming enquiries related to surveying and secure opportunities as well as contacting potential clients to promote services within the market.
  • Setting up operational schedules for Surveying Team to ensure all requirements are met for clients
  • Collaborate with project managers engineers and clients to ensure survey objectives are met and deliverables are of the highest quality.

Surveying Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive utility surveys using advanced surveying techniques and equipment.
  • Accurately identify locate and map underground utilities including water gas electricity telecommunications and sewer systems.
  • Utilise Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) electromagnetic locators and other surveying tools to collect data and create detailed utility maps.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines and regulations while working in diverse environments and conditions.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to junior surveying staff as needed
  • Conduct field surveys to gather topographic data using GPS total stations and other surveying instruments
  • Analyse survey data to create detailed maps and models of the terrain
  • Collaborate with engineers architects and planners to integrate topographic data into project designs
  • Prepare and present reports charts and presentations detailing survey findings
  • Ensure compliance with relevant surveying standards and regulations
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of survey activities
  • Perform calculations to determine areas elevations and distances
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
  • Provide technical advice and support to clients and colleagues

Qualifications / Experience Required

  • Professional certification as a Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Professional certification for NVQ Level 3 or 5 Utility Mapping (Preferred)
  • Proficiency in surveying software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or GIS applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Prior experience in topographic surveying or a related discipline
  • Proficiency with surveying instruments such as GPS total stations and levels
  • Knowledge of topographic and geospatial concepts
  • Ability to interpret and analyse survey data
  • Familiarity with relevant software tools and technologies
  • Strong mathematical and computational skills
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in various outdoor conditions
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to survey sites with no more than 6 points
