Position Overview:
As a Senior Mechanical Designer youll play a key role in supporting major defence infrastructure projects. Youll be part of a high-performing team of engineers and designers across mechanical electrical hydraulic civil and structural disciplines. Your work will directly influence project efficiency cost containment and operational success.
Youll use your 2D and 3D CAD skills to develop and document designs translating engineering intent into detailed models and drawings. With a strong foundation in mechanical and water infrastructure youll contribute to the design of pumping systems pipelines water and wastewater treatment stormwater and drainage and chemical storage and dosing systems.
This role also includes mentoring junior designers and drafters and collaborating closely with peers and clients to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and document mechanical designs using 2D and 3D CAD applications.
Translate engineering intent into accurate models and drawings.
Apply standards internal design guidance and previous designs to your work.
Assist in the design of complex infrastructure projects involving mechanical plant and equipment.
Prepare and self-check detailed design drawings and models.
Liaise with engineers and peers to review and present design work.
Provide guidance and technical support to junior team members.
Work within project budgets and KBRs quality management system.
Skills & Experience Required:
Associate Degree Diploma or equivalent para-professional qualification in Design or Engineering.
Proven experience in infrastructure design ideally gained within consulting environments.
Strong background in mechanical engineering drafting and design with at least 5 - 10 years of relevant experience.
Experience with GIS and survey data for concept and preliminary design.
Ability to perform simple calculations using standards codes and internal procedures.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Commitment to continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Candidate must hold Australian Citizenship.
