What will your job look like
The Driver for the Sabino Canyon Crawler plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional visitor experience. This position combines safe vehicle operation with engaging tours through the scenic trails of Sabino Canyon. Drivers are responsible for passenger safety trail knowledge and environmental stewardship.
Location: 5700 N. Sabino Canyon Road Tucson AZ 85750
What youll do:
- Operate the Sabino Canyon Crawler safely along designated trails
- Load and unload passengers at designated stops and trailheads
- Provide informative and engaging narration about the canyons history and geology
- Guide passengers on trail segments ensuring safety and enjoyment
- Perform scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs along the trail
- Participate in trail cleanup and maintenance activities
- Monitor vehicle condition and report any mechanical issues
- Manage tour schedules efficiently to ensure timely departures stops and returns
- Ensure compliance with park regulations and safety standards
What youll need:
Experience Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience ideally in a tourism hospitality or transportation setting
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Experience in customer service public speaking or tour guiding preferred
- Prior experience operating passenger vehicles or trams is a plus
- Familiarity with outdoor recreation environmental education or park services is preferred
- Must be able to pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
- Must pass criminal background check investigation
Skills:
- Strong public speaking and storytelling abilities
- Knowledge of local ecology history and geography (or willingness to learn)
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage groups and respond calmly in emergency situations
- Basic vehicle operation and safety awareness
- Ability to follow schedules and maintain punctuality
