Job Summary

Qualifications: Demonstrates aptitude for preparing food using standardized recipes Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Reports To: Food Service DirectorSupervises: Cafeteria Servers Job Goal: To serve the students appealing nutritious meals which follow the Health Kids Act guidelines in an atmosphere of efficiency cleanliness and friendliness. Performance Responsibilities:
  • Maintains safe proper and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
  • Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
  • Helps determine the quantities of each food to be prepared daily.
  • Determines the size of serving to meet the necessary requirements with regard to the ages of those served.
  • Prepares food according to a planned menu and tested standardized recipes and determines if the finished product is of best quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served.
  • Tests and records temperature of foods to maintain safety standards.
  • Transports foods to other school buildings.
  • Records all meals served.
  • Reports immediately to the food service director or cafeteria supervisor any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or the cafeteria premises.
  • Confers with the food services director regarding any personnel problems.
  • Reports to the food services director any faulty or inferior quality food which is received.
  • Supervises the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and the washing and sterilizing of all dishes silverware and REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.   • Position requires medium work exerting up to 40 pounds or more of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds or more of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Ability to stand and walk on hard flooring for prolonged periods of time and handle materials by lifting pushing bending or stretching.
  • Physical agility to push pull bend stoop kneel walk climb a ladder and reach overhead.
  • Ability to work with and or around chemical cleaning agents.
