Job Summary
Sovereign Analyst Developed Markets providing Sovereign/Supra/Agency (SSA) coverage to support the Global Rates Active and Index teams.
Vanguards expanding European Fixed Income team is looking for an experienced Sovereign analyst to support the Global Rates Fixed Income franchise. The team is responsible for the management of global aggregate governments and FX strategies. Based in London the desk invests in global opportunities across fixed income derivatives and currencies.
As the team continues to expand we are looking for a driven individual with keen interest in global markets and current geopolitical developments who can provide broad analytical coverage in the Developed Market SSA issuer space. You will collaborate closely with London-based portfolio managers traders and research colleagues to provide recommendations for use in regular and money market funds.
This is a new role that is being created because of business growth and the successful individual with also be expected to help establish and create an effective and efficient coverage model.
Core Responsibilities:
Provide high conviction coverage and investable recommendations across Investment Grade SSAs in the Developed Market universe supporting Global Rates and Global Index teams with timely actionable insights.
Assess current and projected credit quality of Investment Grade SSA issuers
Deliver buy/sell/hold recommendations integrating fundamentals and relative value
Develop and operate a risk tiered coverage policy to ensure appropriate analysis for lower and high-risk issuers
Maintain an approved list of eligible issuers for the money market desk
Provide Enhanced SSA Analysis to global index desks
Contribute to strategy development and sector outlooks
Build relationships and communicate clearly with PMs traders and other internal partners
Develop and maintain relationships with investment banks issuers rating agencies and other relevant 3rd parties
What it takes:
Extensive Developed Market SSA experience to ensure high-level expertise and coverage during periods of market stress
Background in Economic Analysis and or Fixed Income investment management
Undergraduate degree in finance or economics or equivalent combination of training and experience required. Graduate degree / CFA preferred.
Analytical Abilities: The primary responsibility is the ability to conduct deep-level fundamental investment analysis of developed market SSAs.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis to enable efficient coverage of highly rated issuers.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with active/index desks.
