Job Title:Sr. Data Network Engineer I

Position Summary:

The Sr. Network Engineer I will be responsible for design implementation and optimization of complex network infrastructure across the enterprise. This senior-level role requires an engineer with a deep hands-on background in a multi-vendor enterprise with a particular focus on network platforms from Arista Fortinet and Cisco. The ideal candidate will provide deep technical expertise strategic thinking and the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating cross-functionally to ensure high availability scalability and security of our network systems.

Location: Hybrid Pittsburgh PA - Woods Run

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Execution & Delivery:Lead and execute network infrastructure projects from initiation through completion. Coordinate and manage cutovers maintenance windows and network migrations. Ensure compliance with engineering standards security baselines and change management processes.
  • Network Architecture:Design and architect highly available scalable and secure enterprise-level network solutions spanning corporate enterprise and operational technology environments. This includes LAN/WAN wireless data center architecture network security OT networking cloud networking and optical transport.
  • Multi-Vendor Configuration: Configure and maintain a wide range of network devices from multiple vendors including switches routers firewalls load balancers and optical equipment.
  • Monitoring & Optimization:Utilize advanced monitoring tools to analyze performance identify bottlenecks and implement improvements.
  • Security & Compliance:Ensure network security through firewalls VPNs access controls and compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. NERC CIP).
  • Documentation & Reporting:Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including network diagrams configurations and standard operating procedures.
  • Technical Leadership:Act as a subject matter expert providing escalation support mentoring junior engineers and leading complex network projects.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
  • Storm role duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

  • Experience:12 years of experience in network engineering with at least 4 years in a senior or lead role and significant hands-on experience in the following:
    • Arista switching and routing
    • Fortinet firewalls
    • Cisco switching and routing (Catalyst Nexus IOS NX-OS)
    • F5 load balancers
    • Expert knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP BGP OSPF).
    • Azure cloud networking (ExpressRoute)
    • Network tools (Arista CloudVison Cisco ISE FortiManager Infoblox SolarWinds ExtraHop)
    • Knowledge of ITIL practices and change management processes.
    • Nokia optical transport experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Nokia optical transport experience
  • OT/SCADA network experience

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead projects support multiple priorities under pressure and adapt to changing business and technical environments
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills

Scope

Primary Focus is on daily deliverables outputs and reporting. Accountable for managing ones own time and work flow and leads projects and/or large project steps. Work is complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Acts independently the majority of the time requiring guidance in only complex situations. Has well established capabilities acts as a resource to less experienced staff on moderately complex issues.

Decision Impact

Problems and issues faced are vague and require analysis of multiple sources of information for solution. Draws on significant past experience to perform role. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.

Hybrid Work

Position follows our hybrid work model with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Storm Roles

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position as duties can vary across the Company.Examples of storm roles could include but arent limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information etc.

Data Governance

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
