PSD Energy is a leading Australian engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contractor specialising in renewable energy transmission infrastructure and high-voltage systems. Our business delivers innovative and practical solutions across substations BESS and solar farm projects nationwide. We are expanding our design team and seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer (Primary) to join our Adelaide Head Office. The role will play a key part in the design and delivery of complex substation and civil infrastructure projects that support Australias transition to renewable energy.
About the Role
As a Civil Design Engineer Primary you will be responsible for delivering high-quality design and engineering solutions across zone and transmission substations including structural foundation and building elements. Youll collaborate closely with electrical and primary design teams ensuring projects are delivered safely on time and to the highest technical standards.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge multidisciplinary coordination and practical understanding of HV substation infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver detailed civil and structural designs for primary substation and transmission infrastructure.
- Prepare design documentation specifications and construction drawings using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Manage and coordinate civil design components within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Review check and approve drawings and designs prepared by internal drafters or external partners.
- Support tender submissions and project bids through the provision of accurate and timely civil design inputs.
- Ensure all design work aligns with company quality WHS and environmental management systems.
- Participate in design reviews risk assessments and constructability workshops.
- Liaise with clients utilities suppliers and contractors to ensure project success.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- 37 years experience in civil/structural design for substations power systems or similar heavy infrastructure.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Strong knowledge of foundation design steel structures and concrete works.
- Understanding of Australian standards (AS/NZS IEC) relevant to civil and electrical infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and deliver outcomes under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
