We are looking for an experienced GIS Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing managing and analyzing geospatial data to support a wide range of projects. You will work closely with engineers planners and project managers to provide high-quality mapping and spatial analysis that supports decision-making and project delivery.
You will have the opportunity to participate in our hybrid work model offering flexible work hours and a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration in our Mississauga Bowmanville or Kitchener offices.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop maintain and update GIS databases applications and spatial datasets.
- Create detailed maps figures and spatial visualizations for reports and presentations.
- Perform spatial analyses to support planning and design activities for infrastructure and transportation projects.
- Ensure data accuracy consistency and compliance with company and client standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate GIS data with a variety of engineering or environmental datasets.
- Support field data collection efforts using GPS and mobile GIS technologies.
- Automate workflows and data processing using scripts or GIS tools (e.g. Python ModelBuilder).
- Provide technical support training and guidance to team members on GIS tools and best practices.
Qualifications :
- College diploma in Geographic Information Systems or a bachelors degree in Geography Geomatics Environmental Science Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in GIS analysis database management and mapping.
- Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS software (ArcGIS Pro ArcGIS Online ArcGIS Enterprise).
- Experience with spatial databases (e.g. SQL Server PostgreSQL/PostGIS).
- Knowledge of data management cartography and spatial analysis principles.
- Familiarity integrating GIS data and tools with other platforms including AutoCAD InfoWater HEC-RAS and other engineering modelling and design tools is an asset.
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages for automation is an advantage.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
