Join IMEG as a Fire Protection Engineering New Grad in Urbandale IA and help design systems that protect lives and property in todays most advanced facilities. From high-rises and data centers to schools and hospitals youll assist in designing sprinklers clean agent suppression fire pumps standpipes and integrated fire alarm systems. Using hydraulic and fire modeling software with BIM youll work alongside experienced engineers to deliver innovative code-compliant solutions with mentorship training and growth opportunities from day one.
Principal Responsibilities
Design and analyze fire alarm suppression and smoke control systems per code and IMEG standards
Interact with clients to gather requirements and communicate technical information
Build and maintain client relationships
Support project planning scheduling and execution
Document design decisions and monitor progress
Analyze engineering tasks and propose solutions with senior support
Participate in IMEG quality control processes
Stay current with fire protection trends and contribute to R&D
Prioritize safety and identify risks in fire protection systems
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Fire Protection Engineering Mechanical
Engineering Electrical Engineering or equivalent required
Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
Engineering in Training (EIT) License preferred
National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level I or II certification in Fire Alarm Systems or Water-Based Systems Layout preferred
Knowledge of design techniques tools and concepts involved in the production of
technical plans and specifications
Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge in principles of thermodynamics fire dynamics heat transfer and fluid mechanics as it relates to fire protection systems design in fire alarm fire suppression and smoke control systems for buildings
Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools including hydraulic
simulation and intelligibility software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
Basic knowledge in the use of BIM software.
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word Excel and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays
