The clinical assistant assists provider and other clinical staff with obtaining basic vital information preparing patient for examination treatment and minor surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care:
    • Take and record patient medical histories.
    • Measure and monitor vital signs (blood pressure temperature pulse respiratory rate).
    • Prepare patients for exams and assist healthcare providers during procedures.
  • Clinical Duties:
    • Administer injections vaccines and medications as directed by physicians.
    • Collect and prepare lab specimens (e.g. blood urine) for testing.
    • Perform basic diagnostic tests (e.g. EKGs vision tests).
    • Sterilize and maintain medical instruments.
  • Patient Education:
    • Provide patients with instructions for medications procedures and follow-up care.
    • Educate patients on health management and preventive care.

Qualifications

  • Current Certification as a Medical Assistant (AAMA AMT NHA or NCT)
  • High school diploma.
  • BLS and Mandatory Reporter certification.
  • Knowledge of clinical skill techniques procedures medical diagnoses and treatments.
