Senior Software Engineer Europe Local (Java)

The Engineering Team at Wise is central to what has made the business successful. Having product-focused and forward-thinking engineers has allowed Wise to cater to the needs of customers unlike any other business. They have built a world-leading platform and product but there is still more to do.

As a key member of the team you will be instrumental in building specific products to improve market fit with a current focus on our expansion into the Spanish market. 

You will also continue to improve our local payment methods and work on our Open Banking journeys across Europe and the UK. 

This is new and challenging territory for Wise offering a huge potential to drive new customer experiences and make a significant direct impact on our customers lives by reducing fees and speeding up transfers. 

You will also collaborate closely with various teams including Banking Product Compliance Platform and Customer Service to ensure seamless execution.

The team is extremely data-driven providing an opportunity to work with modern development methods and become a leading expert in the rapidly developing field of Open Banking. 

We are looking for someone with demonstrated impact in a customer-facing environment who is excited to take ownership of these country-specific products.

What do you need

• A strong product mindset and passion for user experience you prioritise work with the customers in mind and  make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points

• Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audience

• You enjoy writing testable code and believe in Test Driven Development

• You believe in and follow best coding practices code reviews and open feedback

• Experience with Distributed and Concurrent Systems

• Hands on knowledge of system integration patterns 

• A proven track record as a senior software engineer.

• Strong experience building and maintaining production APIs (preferably high-throughput low-latency systems) and working with 3rd parties to integrate APIs
