Job Summary

We are representing a well-established family-owned winery in the Napa Valley seeking a hands-on and strategic Vice President of Finance to oversee all financial accounting and administrative functions. This leadership position reports directly to ownership and partners closely with department heads to guide financial performance manage company resources and strengthen long-term business sustainability.

Overview

The VP of Finance will play a key role in shaping financial strategy managing daily operations and ensuring accurate timely reporting across the organization. This individual will provide oversight of accounting budgeting forecasting and compliance activities while serving as a trusted advisor to ownership.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

  • Lead all areas of accounting budgeting forecasting and financial management for multiple entities.

  • Establish and enhance financial systems processes and internal controls that promote operational efficiency and fiscal accountability.

  • Partner with leadership to develop annual budgets track performance and align financial planning with company objectives.

  • Oversee compliance with accounting standards tax regulations and financial reporting requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external accounting firms financial partners and lenders.

  • Manage cash flow capital planning and financing activities to support business initiatives.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Deliver comprehensive and timely financial reports that provide insight into company and departmental performance.

  • Monitor budgets against actual results and provide variance analysis to support informed decision-making.

  • Develop financial models to evaluate business opportunities and investment scenarios.

  • Support ownership with financial projections strategic planning and data-driven recommendations.

  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting ensuring accurate reporting of production and cost of goods.

HR Payroll & Administrative Oversight

  • Oversee payroll processing benefits administration and HR compliance for multiple entities.

  • Ensure that employee programs and records are accurate timely and compliant with regulatory standards.

  • Coordinate with IT and consultants as needed to ensure secure and efficient management of financial data.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage risk through oversight of insurance policies workers compensation and property coverage.

  • Administer grower contracts and payments ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

  • Supervise sales use and excise tax filings and related compliance activities.

Qualifications

  • 710 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance leadership preferably in the wine beverage or manufacturing industry.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices.

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.

  • Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively across departments.

  • Excellent communication analytical and organizational skills.

  • Hands-on management style with the ability to balance strategic planning and day-to-day operations.
