Job Summary
The PATHS (Providing Access Throughout High School) program is a cohort-based college access program for underrepresented and upcoming first-generation high school students. The goal of PATHS is for students to achieve high school success and college readiness. Students participate year-round starting the summer before their freshmen year of high school until graduation. The program provides access to university resources and a learning community to prepare students for post-secondary success. PATHS is looking for mentors to be experienced and trusted advisors who form supportive coaching relationships and assist students in completing high school and applying for college. Mentors are expected to: Create supportive and enriching experiences for students Help students manage academics and homework Guide students on time management and other study skills Share advice and knowledge about high school and college Mentors will be working directly with PATHS students (grades 9-12) during weekly afterschool in-person tutoring hours to take place in public libraries and community centers around the Salt Lake Valley including but not limited to: Day-Riverside Branch SLCPL Hartland Partnership Center Hunter Library Kearns Library Mentors will receive training and orientation including mandatory Youth Protection Training.

Responsibilities
Set tutoring hours twice per week for a minimum of 2 hours each day. Plan and chaperone monthly Saturday engagement events (October May). Track student progress and data as applies to program activities. Work with fellow mentors to deliver program curriculum during the school year. Attend mandatory weekly team meetings. Provide their own transportation to and from their assigned community site or engagement activity. Conduct themselves professionally and represent the program while complying with all the rules of partner sites and activities. Be positive role models to students.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are required. The incumbent will be required to pass a Bureau of Criminal Investigation ( BCI ) Background check Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
