QA Engineer

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Our client a Karachi-based State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) regulated Electronic Money Institution (EMI) seeks to appoint an experienced professional for the following role:

Job Role

As the QA Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the quality reliability and compliance of all software applications systems and integrations deployed by the EMI. This role involves planning designing executing and automating test cases to validate functionality performance and security of digital payment platforms mobile apps APIs and backend systems in line with SBPs regulatory and security standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Planning & Design - Review business functional and technical requirements for EMI products (e.g. mobile wallets payment gateways agent portals). Develop comprehensive test plans test cases and test data covering functional integration performance and security aspects. Define acceptance criteria and traceability matrices to ensure all regulatory and functional requirements are testable
• Manual & Automated Testing - Execute manual tests for new features enhancements and bug fixes. Develop and maintain automated regression test suites using tools such as Selenium JMeter Postman or similar frameworks. Conduct API testing for integrations with banks payment processors and NADRA verification systems. Perform UAT support and pre-production validation before deployment
• Functional & Integration Validation - Verify interoperability between core EMI systems (wallet platform card management system switch and ERP). Validate interfaces with external services (e.g. NADRA 1LINK VISA/MasterCard PSP). Confirm proper handling of transaction flows error messages and reconciliation logic
• Security & Compliance Testing - Work with the security team to conduct vulnerability and penetration testing (VAPT) reviews. Ensure systems comply with SBPs TRMF EMI Regulations and PCI DSS security standards. Validate access controls session management data masking and encryption in test environments. Support compliance audits and certification activities by providing test evidence and reports
• Performance & Load Testing - Conduct load stress and scalability testing to validate system performance under expected transaction volumes. Identify bottlenecks and coordinate with the development team for performance tuning
• Continuous Improvement - Participate in Agile / DevOps cycles to improve CI/CD testing automation and quality gates. Recommend process improvements and testing best practices to enhance release quality and efficiency. Contribute to test environment setup and data management aligned with secure development lifecycle (SDLC) principles
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Support - Work closely with Developers IT Operations Information Security and Risk teams to ensure issues are resolved promptly. Support production incident analysis and post-deployment validation when required. Provide quality sign-off before each release to ensure readiness for live deployment

Education

• Minimum 16 years of education preferably a Masters degree in Information Technology or a related field from an HEC-recognized or equivalent foreign institution.

Experience

• Minimum 3-4 years of professional experience preferably in a large national/multinational organization with at least 1-2 years of related functional experience in a similar role at an equivalent position ideally in a tech startup fintech or digital-first organization
• Experience in a bank EMI fintech or regulated financial institution growth functions is preferred
