Job Summary

Department Overview

The Community Outreach Coordinator provides outreach and education that engages diverse communities providing them with accurate and engaging information and resources about organ eye and tissue donation throughout our service area in Oregon SW Washington and Western Idaho. This role supports work on the state donation registries coordinates Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) partner relations manages and presents high school education materials and resources for organ eye and tissue donation and develops strong partnerships in identified multicultural and diverse communities particularly Latinx and Spanish- speaking communities.

The Outreach Coordinator must possess excellent communication and customer service skills as well as maintain a high level of professionalism. On a daily basis the incumbent communicates with both internal and

external customers including (but not limited to): community organizations volunteers State of Oregon Washington and Idaho agencies local and national donation partner organizations recovery agency partners

media educational institutions and other OHSU staff.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Deliver standardized organ eye and tissue donation education forOregon high school students at age-appropriate levels to encourageunderstanding and empathy with a view to registration at the presentations in educational and community settings. Developcontacts throughout Oregon and SW Washington high schools forimplementation of donation education.

  • Develop and implement multicultural outreach program specificallyfocusing on building and maintaining strong relationships with Latinxand Spanish-speaking communities.

  • Establish and effectuate community outreach and education programswith an emphasis on diverse and underrepresented communities in our service area including but not limited to members of BlackAsian Native American and Latinx communities.

  • Collaborate with the Aftercare Department to design and launch avolunteer program primarily engaging donor families with a focuson supporting high school education initiatives and communityoutreach events.

  • Establish and maintain contacts with key partners at the Oregon Division of Motor Vehicle (DMV) offices providing educational materials and presentations in-person education visits and appreciation events.
  • Ensure the public has the most current accurate and timely access to organ donation information via the website social media community outreach newsletter and printed collateral. Answer public inquiries related to donation questions or registry information. Collaborate with CLA Aftercare and Donate Life NW teams to identify and developdonation stories to advance the mission among various stakeholders.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in education public health communications marketing or closely related field OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience planning and implementing community education/outreach programs including giving presentations.
  • Spanish Language Fluency Certification (written and verbal); may be obtained during the application process.
  • Valid Drivers License.

Job Related KnowledgeSkills and Abilities(Competencies):

  • A compassionate conscientious self-starter who must possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with the public state agencies and education and medical professionals.
  • Excellent writing editing and presentation skills.
  • Fluent bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish both written and verbal.
  • Ability to create and present targeted media to both small and large groups in various settings including social media high school classes and multicultural community events.
  • Proficiency in social media tools database software Microsoft Office Suite Adobe Creative Suite
  • An ability to work productively both independently and as a team participant with accountability to all other team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree
  • Experience in gathering analyzing and goal setting based on relevant data.
  • Experience in developing educational programs and planning community outreach events is preferred.
  • Knowledge of organ donation and transplantation is preferred

Additional Details

This position requires travel within the Cascade Life Alliance Donor Service Area. The ability to work varied hours including weekends and evenings will be required based on project requirements.
