Job Description

Job Summary

Acts as a substitute for or relieves and performs the duties of the regular employees in the following classifications:
a)Combined Cycle Control Room Operator (CCCRO)
b)Combined Cycle Assistant Operator (CCAO)

The employee shall be capable of relieving the CCRO or CCAO on any day or shift worked.

What you will do

Responsible to perform the job functions of whatever classification the relieved person normally works in.
Will operate as directed all functions associated with the established operating crew duties (CCCRO or CCAO) for Combustion Turbine Generator Units 1 and 2 and Steam Turbine Generator Unit 3.
When on relief duty and relieving the employee shall conform to the appropriate classification and work hours.
When on relief and not relieving the employee shall be assigned to the day shift (Monday through Friday 0700 to 1530) conforming to Maintenance hours.
When on Monday through Friday (0700 to 1530) duty the employee may fill any position of the Operators classification (CCCRO CCAO) due to absence on the day shift.
The employee shall be placed in the plant overtime call-out rotation.
Employee will be expected to fill an open CCCRO or CCAO position for an extended period if the position is vacated because of a resignation or other situation.
Demonstrates knowledge of safe work practices. This requires observing and following safety rules policies and practices encouraging safe work behaviors promptly correcting unsafe conditions and behaviors that may lead to accidents.
Leads and drives the establishment acceptance and implementation of operating policies procedures and activities that maximize operating results. Plans assigns duties and directs employees assigned to the shift and ensures duties are being performed in accordance with established plant policies and procedures.
Starts operates monitors and shuts down combustion turbine generating units heat recovery steam generators steam turbine generating unit and all associated auxiliary equipment.
Ensures that all aspects of plant operation remain in compliance with environmental rules and regulations. Operates control equipment to obtain safe and economic operation of HRSG turbines and auxiliary equipment.
Alerts the proper authorities regulatory agencies internal personnel and management of any significant operations issues including fires spills accident etc.
May at times be required to work at locations other than Emery Generating Station as needed.
Performs a variety of work connected with operation maintenance and preventive maintenance of a combined cycle plant.
Perform clean-up and preservation tasks throughout the facility.
Support safety plant productivity reliability and plant efficiency improvements by participating in various continuous improvement activities.
Utilizes computer applications in the performance of duties.
Excellent sense of pride in work ownership and work ethic.
Participates in work in all areas of operations maintenance repair and testing as qualified as needed.
Operates facility switchgear to maintain safe and proper operation of plant and substation electrical equipment.
Possess skills in reading basic math and electricity and have mechanical aptitude.
Able to remain calm during emergencies.
Performs other duties which are similar related or incidental to this position.
Performs basic water sampling and chemistry analysis on systems as needed.
Assists with operation of control equipment to obtain safe and economical operation.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

2 years of experience as a Combined Cycle Control Room Operator and/or equivalent experience in an electric generating manufacturing and/or processing/production facility.

Other Requirements

Must possess a valid drivers license.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Good theoretical knowledge of generating station systems.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Familiarity with and an ability to utilize computer software applications.
Ability to read blueprints manuals technical manuals; mechanical aptitude; reading and math knowledge.
Capacity for quick accurate decisions and speed of execution.
Ability to exercise good judgment during emergencies.
