Overview

At The Julian Center we empower survivors of domestic and sexual violence to build lives free of abuse and full of hope. As our Survivor Advocacy Manager you will play a pivotal leadership roleguiding a team of six dedicated advocates who provide critical support to survivors both in our emergency shelter and throughout the community. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional with a passion for survivor-centered care and a proven ability to build strong cohesive teams in high-impact environments. Youll set the tone for excellence in service delivery foster a culture of trust and growth and ensure every survivor who reaches us receives compassionate high-quality support.


A Day in the Life

No two days look the same in this roleand thats what makes it so meaningful. Your mornings may begin by checking in with advocates about new cases providing supervision and guidance through weekly one-on-ones and supporting staff who are navigating the emotional intensity of the work. Throughout the day youll coordinate with community partnersfrom IMPD and local prosecutors to housing agencies and healthcare providersto ensure safety plans are sound and resources are in place. Youll carry a small caseload of high-lethality survivors offering hands-on advocacy and modeling best practices for trauma-informed care. As the leader of this dynamic team youll bring clarity consistency and careenforcing policy when needed encouraging collaboration and helping your team stay grounded and supported in the midst of crisis.

  • Youre an experienced people leader who knows how to motivate mentor and unify a team with diverse strengths and personalities.
  • You have a strong background in human services social work or crisis interventionand you understand the balance between empathy and accountability.
  • You bring a calm confident leadership style able to make sound decisions quickly even in emotionally charged situations.
  • You naturally build trust and transparency and you approach supervision as both a coach and a collaborator.
  • You understand the realities of secondary trauma and know how to support staff in maintaining boundaries resilience and self-care.
  • You are comfortable enforcing policies addressing issues directly and keeping service delivery timely and consistent.
  • Youre energized by a mission-driven environment and believe that great leadership is the key to great survivor outcomes.


What You Bring

  • Bachelors degree in social work psychology human services or a related field.
  • At least 35 years of experience in direct client service within human or social services ideally in domestic violence or crisis response.
  • Proven leadership experience including supervising a multidisciplinary or advocacy team.
  • Strong communication problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emotionally demanding environment with compassion and professionalism.
  • Commitment to equity empowerment and survivor-centered service delivery.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred.
